Mythos Restaurant: Islands of Adventure
If you’re a fan of theme parks and great food, then you must try Mythos Restaurant at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Mythos has been voted the best theme park restaurant in the world for several years in a row and is located in the heart of the park. But what makes it so special? Let’s dive into the magical world of Mythos.
What Makes Mythos So Special?
- The Ambiance– Mythos Restaurant in Islands of Adventure is beautiful inside and out. The restaurant is located in a cave and has been designed to look like an ancient temple. The attention to detail is stunning, with intricate ceilings, stone walls, and hand-carved statues. The dim lighting and soft music create a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for a romantic evening or a sophisticated lunch.
- The Menu– The menu at Mythos is inspired by Mediterranean and Asian cuisine. The chef has crafted a creative and diverse menu that caters to all tastes. Start with the crispy calamari or the Spanakopita Dip for a delicious appetizer. Try the juicy lamb burger, the Beef Loin Medallions, or the Couscous Bowl for the main course. And don’t forget to save room for dessert – the Chocolate Banana Gooey Cake is a must-try.
- The Drinks– Mythos Restaurant has a great selection of wines, beers, and cocktails that perfectly complement the food. The signature cocktail, Mythos Potion, is a fruity and refreshing drink that’s perfect for a hot day. The wine list is extensive and includes both local and international wines. And for beer lovers, there’s a great selection of craft beers and imports.

- The Prices– Mythos Restaurant is not the cheapest restaurant in Islands of Adventure, but the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the service make it worth the price. You can expect to pay between $22 and $35, with appetizers ranging from $11 to $16. Cocktails and wines are between $13 and $15, and beers start at $8.50.
What We Tried and Our Best Bites
Brick Oven Roasted Chicken- My Favorite
This Mediterranean herb spiced half chicken is paired with Dijon roasted fingerling potatoes, sautéed spinach and a delicious natural chicken jus. This was easily one of my favorite dishes of the entire trip.
Beef Loin Medallions– Steve’s Favorite
The medallions are cooked to order and are paired with Yukon potato puree, sautéed haricot verts, radish, and watercress. A red wine reduction is drizzled over the steak. The presentation of this dish is beautiful and the taste does not disappoint. Steve has had these beef medallions every time we eat at Mythos.
Souvlaki Couscous Bowl – Rhonda’s Favorite
This has za’atar spiced couscous, fresh cucumbers, marinated artichoke, Kalamata olives, spiced chickpeas, feta cheese, tzatziki, and tahini dressing. While it is superb on its own, you can add tofu, a chicken kabab, or a beef kabab if you would like. Rhonda has also had this both times we have eaten at Mythos.
Pad Thai
The Pad Thai has rice noodles, mixed vegetables, chicken, and shrimp and is tossed with a mild sweet and sour peanut sauce. You can request a vegan option with crispy tofu and vegan peanut sauce. I really liked the Pad Thai also. It was very flavorful and filled with shrimp. I didn’t get chicken since I was only eating seafood at the time and they were happy to make the modification for me.
Mythos Signature Lamb Burger
The burger features hand-packed ground lamb, grilled onion, shredded lettuce, fresh tomato, and a feta-olive aioli. French fries complete the plate. During our second visit, I had the lamb burger. It was a little overcooked for my taste. By comparison, I definitely prefer the Pad Thai.
Mythos Potion of the Gods– Group Favorite
This signature cocktail contains Malibu Coconut rum, Captain Morgan Spiced rum, black raspberry liqueur, and orange, cranberry, and pineapple juices with a float of Cruzan 137 rum. This is a fabulous drink. If you don’t like sweet drinks, you may want to pass but, the Potion is always on my must-have list. Tip: You can have one during your meal and get one to go so you can enjoy it while wandering around the park!
Spanish Coffee
This has Kahlúa, Felipe ll Brandy de Jerez Solera, and coffee. Spiced whipped cream completes the coffee drink. While it was a great drink, Rhonda preferred the Potion of the Gods.
The Verdict
As you can guess, Mythos Restaurant is one of our favorite restaurants to visit when we come to Islands of Adventure. It lives up to its reputation as the best theme park restaurant in the world. The combination of the stunning ambiance, creative menu, great drinks, excellent service, and reasonable prices make it a must-visit spot for any foodie or theme park enthusiast. As a result, it can get pretty busy. So next time you’re at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, make sure to book a table at Mythos and prepare for a truly magical dining experience.
